Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Every year the Oyster Bay Public School P&C holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM). This is where we reflect on the year that's been, plan for the year ahead and elect the committee members who will lead the P&C.

Think of it as a fresh start for the year ahead.

What happens at the AGM?

The AGM is an important part of the P&C calendar. At the meeting:

  • All committee positions become vacant, giving every financial member the opportunity to nominate for a role.

  • Members vote to elect the President, Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary and other committee members.

  • Sub committees, including the Art & Craft Festival Committee, are established for the coming year.

  • The previous year's financial reports are presented, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Why was the AGM moved to November?

For many years, our AGM was held in March. While this worked well in the past, it meant parents with children finishing Year 6 needed to stay on into the following school year to complete their roles. It also delayed new committee members from getting started.

Holding our AGM in November means:

  • The new committee is ready to begin from the first day of the new school year.

  • Outgoing committee members can finish their roles at the end of the school year.

  • Planning for fundraising, events and the Uniform Shop can begin well before Term 1.

This gives the P&C a stronger start each year and ensures a smooth transition between committees.

Why become a P&C member?

Membership costs just 50 cents per year, but it gives you the opportunity to have a genuine say in the future of our school community.

As a financial member you can:

  • Vote at General Meetings and the AGM.

  • Help elect the P&C Executive.

  • Nominate for a committee position if you'd like to become more involved.

  • Have a voice in how fundraising money is spent to benefit our students.

You don't need to join the committee or attend every meeting. Simply becoming a member means you're supporting the P&C and helping shape the future of Oyster Bay Public School.
